Affirmation Songs – Singing Circle
Vala Yates, along with Davíð Ágústsson are hosting their first public singing circle on Friday Nov. 29, 5-7.30 PM
They have hosted such events together several times in Hugarafl, but have now decided to invite the public to take part.
This is how the evening will go:
Warm-up for mind, body and soul
We sing together: Brand new “affirmation songs” written by Vala
Sound healing and relaxation
The songs are written by Vala. She calls them “affirmation songs”. They are written from positive affirmations which Vala either wrote herself or found. Vala is deeply interested in empowerment and co-creation, as well as having immense belief in positive affirmations as a way to reprogram our minds – to change old core beliefs which are no longer supporting us in our lives. To learn how to create a more positive view of the world, to give ourselves a better opportunity to create the life we want to lead, on our own terms. Each song has its own purpose – to change a certain “negative belief pattern” into a positive one.
Before leading the singing circle, Vala will lead a short “warm-up” for the mind, body and soul, which is meant to help you feel relaxed and safe, and to experience a safe connection with the other participants.
After the songs, Vala will lead a short sound-healing and relaxation.
The admission for the evening is 3500 kr.
If you reserve your spot in advance it’s only 3000 kr (Send me a DM to reserve your spot – open until end of day Thursday 28.Nov)
About Us
Vala Yates
Vala Yates is a singer, singing teacher, song-writer and yin-yoga teacher. She is doing her Masters’ in “New Audiences and Innovative Practices” (NAIP) at the Iceland University of the Arts.
She released her debut album, “Towards my Dreams” in November 2024. The songs are a collection from her own personal life journey, from the decade they were written. The content is varied, but Vala always had the intention of spreading hope, love and gratitude with her songs. The results being that many have shared that her album helped them gain a new perspective on the world; they found the courage to follow their dreams, found comfort, healing, and even a way to work through their own grief.
In her Master’s studies Vala is researching the relaxation of the nervous system, co-creation, improvisation, the effects of meditation on the brain, and the effects of sound healing. Her affirmation songs and singing circles have arisen from her research, as well as serving as part of the research.
Vala also graduated as a certified yin-yoga teacher, from Salvör Davíðsdóttir Yin-yoga teacher training, in early November. This also supports her research on the relaxation of the nervous system.
This event also serves as part of her research.
Davíð Ágústsson
Davíð Ágústsson supports Vala in these events. He has played guitar for many years, and taken part in a wide variety of events and song circles. He has been meditating for many years, as well as being in active deep dive inner work, and is deeply interested in spirituality. He is a musician of heart and soul, and has a knack to pick up songs quickly, to improvise on the spot and to create an atmosphere where others find it easy to take part. He’s been wanting for a while to step into the role of leading these types of events himself, and at this time is also developing himself further in the art of musical improvisation.
We hope to see many of you on Friday!
